I was thinking that they're 'learning' mighty late in the game.

There's a reason Microsoft Defender is such a joke.  If they knew what
to scan for, they should just be patching the damned OS in the first
place.  Which means that since they -don't- do that from the start,
they really have no business supplying a 'security' product for it.
