It doesn't. A T1 is only 1.54mit. Most DSL is faster these days
(although far less stable).
Ironically, back through about 2000, a T1 to the home would have been
the holy grail. Now I pay far less than the local loop would have cost,
for full gigabit. It's actually cheaper to have gigabit fibre than it
is to have 300mbit cable around here. I know, as I just switched in
2020.
