FW: Too many users - Windows

For those 9of Us using windows. The easiest way to solve the issue of getting the message that the license has been exceeded, when you know it hasn't is to shut down the fplm_service and then restart it. (I was advised this some years ago when a client has issues caused by remote users logging out of the remote session without closing out of filePro. By manually shutting down the service and then restarting it, he avoided having everyone logging off the system and then rebooting. The license manager will return with the correct number of sessions allowing for the proper use of filePro. No one will be logged out of the system when the service is shut down; Note that no one will be able to start a new session when the service is off or restarting. The whole operation should take less than a few minutes. (on a fast system this will be about 1 minute or less. (my System and my clients system.) For my clients who have a oner user license and are not computer knowledgeable, I will have them reboot their computer as this is easier and safer for them.
I have not had any issues with the license manager in the past few years as most of the issues in the earlier version have been corrected. This is one area where Windows is easier to manage then a *nix system.

lol - Mark does have that gift, I know, I have the scars to prove it. ;-)
I try to read pass Mark's art of presentation and make every effort to gain the value off his responses; not that I always find it (then again, Mark will quickly point out that my not finding a value on his responses is further evidence of how [ you fill this blank ] I am).
Do not let Mark get under you skin - he is right, he is not going anywhere - and you are right, he enjoys this but in the same token, he is often a dependable source of "how to ..." and "how not to ...".
No one here is perfect and we all have something to share - some of us just need to come to terms with the way some members come across and simply block the portion of their postings that feel like needles pearceing your skin (or your pride).
Gees, if only I had a $1 for every instance Mark let me have it :-)
BTW, going to a different list for filePro stuff ain't gonna happen - this is it! This is the one leg the filePro community is standing on.
PS: Do y'all know I am an "expert" in developing web based business
applications? Hit me up!!! ;-)
