You mistake not suffering fools gladly for rudeness. That's your
prerogative, and your problem. There are people on the list with whom I
take absolutely no issue whatsoever, btw.

If I were insecure, your response would bother me. It doesn't, because
I don't respect you enough to give a damn what you think. You'd have to
earn that privilege.
You, on the other hand, seem to be bothered by my response to you.
Might want to flash that armchair pop psychology in a mirror.

Except I don't, outside my areas of speciality (and possibly not even
then, in some cases). Anyone claiming to be an 'expert' is usually
least qualified to be trusted as such, so I don't even go there. But I
know the -basics- ffs, whereas apparently you do not, based on your own
technical assertions.

Or perhaps not.

Since when have I cared what other people think of me on a personal
level? I have weathered onslaughts by Esak, JPR, and Stockler, all of
whom eventually became either friends, or at least reasonably amicable
acquaintances before their passing (in the 2/3 of those cases where they've
passed), not coincidentally. Better people than you have tried to take me
down, and failed utterly. I'm still standing, and you won't change that
with a little whinge. You're free to try, but you'll fail hilariously.
> want to be on a mailing list with people who act like they are still in

Maybe you should, if you can't handle the restrained feedback your
ridiculously laughable statements of a technical nature naturally garner
from anyone with at least two firing neurons and a couple years' worth
of experience with *nix, much less almost three decades' worth. Someone
who picked up and read the cheapest reasonably comprehensive book on the
subject should have a better grasp on signals than you exhibited. That you
posted your ignorance publicly is your fault, not mine, and I'm not going
to apologise for simply being conscious and observant, nor for having an
opinion. I'm not here to make you feel better about your failures. Hire a
therapist, build a safe room...whatever you like, but that's your
problem, not mine.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
