Thanks for your reply.

I will ask her to give a sample that produces the output she is describing.
It could be something weird.  I've tried my outlook and my word and I don't
get it.

I'll let you know if I can duplicate.

The graphic character one-half has a value in the upper half of the 8-bit
character sets. When pasted into Anzio, it may get translated as it's sent
to the host, depending on the settings for terminal type and character set
(in Anzio). When it's echoed back to the screen, it should still be a single
symbol. That is, it should be a clean round trip, unless it doesn't exist in
the terminal type's character set.

But I can't imagine a scenario under which it would be converted to the
three character secquence "1 / 2".

Is it possible that she's COPYing from different sources, one of which
presents as "1 / 2"?
