I have watched all the videos, especially John's intermediate and advanced videos, which are not on YouTube. I certainly did learn some tricks, especially from the advanced videos.

I am not sure if I got to see anything that spoke about 'advanced',
there were only about 8 videos on my search list and most were from 2019
conference.

I have no doubt that any material put forth by John would have had
valuable info in them - even if hidden treasures without a map nor an X
mark.

The students have questions from the videos, but that is to be expected. They are worth it to me just for the value of the questions they generate.
Well, there is an answer; glad to hear that you and your students have
found them to be of value (don't bring them down!)

My bachelor's degree is in communications, so I've taken a lot of media production courses including a courses like, "Multi-media production scripting" and "Defining educational objectives". Most likely my videos would have been more polished than John's were, but I didn't think there would be any benefit to the community (or to me, financially) if I was to compete with John's videos.
I respect and admire your respect for John and his work - I do disagree
that your producing material for training
purposes would or could or should had been looked at as "competing" - I
personally would had looked at it as "alternative" or "additional"
or "the more the better".

This reminds me of the time I wrote code for fpgroups.com [hence the
name -fp-groups], a forum where we could all post Q&A
and it included a Who is Who section that allowed us all to promote our
products and services but it was viewed then as "not
necessary since we already had this list". Talk about DOA!

I wonder what I did with that code!  I later took a 2nd stab at it and
suggested the use of tek-tips and again, rejected for the same
reasons.  I felt that this kind of emotional attachment was in great
part why filePro was falling further behind and opted to simply
follow web based development more aggressively.

> That does get me thinking, though. Perhaps it is time for some new filePro videos. I don't have time to start on such a project right now, but would welcome any efforts by anybody to produce at least a few new "intro to filePro" videos and post them on YouTube...

Like a wise man in this list often says: If there is no monetary
benefit, I do not have the time (or something to that effect).
