You realise pretty much everything you just said screams, "Run away! Run
far, far away!" right?
They should just move to PACE/iLok and have done. At least it's reliable,
and there's a zero downtime programme.
We won't get into the part where it's not actually -worth- protecting to
that degree. From whom, exactly? No sane business owner would base their
business on stolen software. The market share that actually knows what
filePro -is-, is remarkably small, and shrinking by the death/retirement.
And then there's the most compelling argument of all: Designing compelling
software that actually makes people -want- to support the developers has
always been far more effective than any form of draconian DRM.
Image-Line's continued success is testament to that, and they have lifetime
-free- upgrades.
