OT: Centos 7 and sendmail/mutt, etc

On my previous Centos 5.10 server, users could send emails with no issue
out of whatever filePro program they were running - typically these would
invoke a system call to a script....but never had any issues
We have over 65 users - but none really have their own /home directory
Mainly because they all use one of about 4-5 profiles - so I had their home
directories set to /usr/user# depending on what menu I wanted invoked for
them

So, for example, anyone with a login that begins with 'paa' would have
their home directory set to /usr/user12
Only thing in that directory was a .profile file which told what filePro
menu to execute
Easy....

Well, apparently Centos 7 doesn't really like how this works - at least not
with 'default' installation of sendmail, sendmail-cf etc
Well, seems sendmail by defaults wants to create a 'sent' file when a user
sends an email - which, obviously, will make my above /usr//user# home
directory structure not work very well
I have looked all around and don't see where I can tell sendmail to NOT
create this 'sent' file

Has anyone had a similar setup to this?

WORST case scenario, I guess I can make home directories for everyone, but
that's cumbersome with the amount of turn over we can have here etc

Otherwise, I think I have all over demons accounted for (knock on wood)

p.s. oh unless you know why if I copied over my CUPS configuration for my
printers, new Centos 7 complains the 'null' printer - no such printer or
class
but that's a relatively minor thing...

thanks
