You should be able to use:
4 eq "GE"
4 lt "GE!"
(with no group specified thus indicating both statements must be true)
This should work as long has the data only has characters in the ascii [decimal] range 32 and above. (I'm using "!" simply because it's the lowest ascii value character above control codes and the space character.)
