I don't know if "linux mint" uses APT......but...here goes:
It's been years.....but pass this along to whoever needs it:
I don't fP any longer....and lurk occasionally on the list....
I messed with this problem on many 32 bit variants of Linux long ago.....and
kept notes.
Best way to tell if you got it working is using the built in editor on a PRC
table and test F1-F4 keys.

A. apt-get install libtinfo-dev
B. If you need to convert a RPM
1. sudo add-apt-repository universe
2. sudo apt-get install alien
3. update/upgrade
4. To convert a RPM: # sudo alien <name of package>.rpm to
a .deb
To install the new .deb package: sudo dpkg -i <name of
package>.deb
C. Copy your RPM or DEB over to /tmp and convert and install.
Example: For i386 Ubuntu 18.04TLS:
"CENTOS_AlienConverted_compat-libtermcap_2.0.8-50_i386.deb"
IE: sudo dpkg -i <name of package>.deb

0. See what libtermcaps you've got:
sudo apt list --installed|grep -i libtermcap
1. Add RPM support on .deb installations :

This library may well be part of the ncurses development package.
I'm not familiar with Linux mint, but would guess that it uses
