After 8 years they are dropping support for this device. They are recommending installing a nook app for Windows or ones smartphone or tablet to continue using the account associated with version 1 Nook.
Supporting a divine for 8 years is a very long time for any tech device.
What they are dropping is support for the device to access the account and making sure that the nook formatted files would be readable on all versions of the Nook.
It is interesting g that old versions of filePro will still work on 32bit versions of Windows.
The only version that has caused me problems is 4.8 as some of the dll’s have an issue with Windows.
I could set up a virtual machine running DOS as I still have installation disks. Yes, I gave a USB floppy disk drive available.
Fp tech has worked to make sure that even 30 year old programs will run under the newer versions (backward compatibility). Maybe it is time to update and forget about backward compatibility. Or do as Intuit has done, update their file format to run with a new version but is not backward compatible.
Doing this would allow for major changes to the clerk and report engines. Mane this should be done for the 64bit version and not the 32bit version.
It appears that a very short times lol of the OSs available will be 64bit.
