I'm going to choose to credit everyone with:

Is this a subtle inside joke among programmers, who like to count from 0 
instead of 1?

Or is this a subtle inside joke among programmers, who like to make 
off-by-one errors all the time?

Since my bday is tomorrow. :)

Maybe it's just that, in order to increase the chances that I see an 
email on a given date, you know you should send it to me at least a day 
earlier since there is no telling which hours I'm asleep vs awake.

I'm fine with any of these excuses for your defective and poorly 
programmed birthday wishes.
