Go on ebay and search "web relay".

There are tons of remote controlled relays for $20. You hook whatever 
you want to the relay. Think of the relay as a remote controlled button. 
Wire it in parallel with any existing manual button, and then you have 
both a manual and a remote way to "press" it.
