Well, if you've raised all the red flags, and it goes entirely under the
hotshot's purview, I'd say an alternate strategy is to break out the
popcorn, wait, watch, and take a measure of satisfaction when he crashes
and burns spectacularly.

Sounds like it can't come back to haunt you, since management sided with
him and chose to proceed, above your objections.  It's their dime, and
their time, and you did your due diligence from the sounds of it.  Enjoy
the free entertainment, I'd say.  No sense in stressing about it.  They
committed to the idiocy; be it on their own heads.
