I went from a FilePro accounting system I developed to one built
around the Unify RDBMS over 30 years ago which works well, but is
hardly an option as:

  1. I don't think Unify is still around.

  2. It's written almost entirely in 'C'.

  3. It's built on SCO OpenServer so the COFF binaries require either
running SCO in a VM or running the binaries on an ancient version of
Linux that supports iBCS (we're using SuSE Pro 9 under VMware).

  4. There's nobody to support it when I'm gone.

The last item is also an issue with FilePro applications as the
number of FilePro developers is limited.

I have one client still running a FilePro application that's been
supported by several individuals, the last having retired a year
or so ago. I'm not competent to deal with the FilePro side of
things as it's been many years since I did anything serious with
FilePro other than tweaking termcap and a few startup scripts.

I'm probably going to need help with them as we need to build a
new CentOS 6 system to replace their 10 year old box running what
appears to be FilePro 5.0.13 based on what's in the 'p' startup.
I'm fine with the Linux side of things, but don't know what's
necessary to deal with the FP side.
