When the ESC-? key table shows "not available", it means that the termcap 
entry doesn't have the corresponding keystroke value in the termcap entry.

And that strange display:

     Display Print Codes     +[%p1%dD

means there's some strange "LE=" value in the termcap entry.

I don't recall how 5.0 was linked.  What does "ldd dclerk" show?  Is there a 
termcap shared library listed?  Perhaps this version of Linux has a version 
of that library that's not compatible with older binaries?
