Getting my fp license to work

This may be a bit late, if you have a paid license for 5.0.15this can be downloaded from the FP web-site with a valid license. The only thing you may need to do is supply them with the new serial # or whatever was used to tie filePro to your system.

Run through the install, and allow the install program to set up the license manager.

As an aside, I know this is not what you or your company wants to hear, but I would suggest upgrading to the latest version of filePro as there have been many improvements to the license manager. I have not had any problems on my system or my client’s systems. Keep in mind that I am running versions of filePro all the back to 4.0. I do have issues with some of the DLL files as they are 32 bit and will not run on my 64bit OS.

At 2 of my clients I have both the 32 and 64bit versions installed as some of the computers are running 32bit versions of Windows 7 and other are 64bit Windows 7, 8.1, or 10.

I have one filePro database mirrored to a 64 Bit Windows 7 machine.

I have two servers, One running Windows Server 2008 the other Windows Server 2012. I have filePro installed on both machines with the 2012 version pointing the license manager on the 2008 machine. The 2012 machine is for testing purposes, as least for now.

I will most likely mirror all of the databases I work with to the 2012 server. This is protection if my 2008 server goes down. Installing a new license is fairly easy as I have created that service a number of times manually. The main issue I have, when upgrading using the install routine

Is forgetting to stop the current service.

Richard,

I just checked on the server and there are no files that start with fplm or fp_lm.

This is so critical that I will contact fpsupport. Also, the install cd we have is fpODBC 1.0.13. During the years we upgraded to 5.0.15.

fp support, please contact me at my cell 815-575-0864. As we only have 2 days left on the license. I do not have a support agreement but will pay the billing rate.

Thanks for your help Richard.

Thank you all,

Rick Hane

If memory service 5.0.15 and above required a license. Fp support or sales can tell you if you have the proper license.

As far as I can see, the license is backward compatible. I have 5.8, 5.7 and lower running on my system. The only time I have an issuers with versions below 5.0 and 64bit OS.
