OT: Net Neutrality

As an ISP, Net Neutrality is a nightmare. If it is enforced as written,
we would have to quadruple
out subscriber's cost, just to install the hardware required to fill out
the reports required from
the net neutrality mess. It was truly a wolf disguised in sheep's
clothing. The bullet points
sound pretty good, but under the surface the rule making as implemented,
is a nightmare. It is
not the talking points but the details that are not published in the
news articles.
It really only affects the companies that can't afford big law firms to
write their terms and service
and defend frivolous lawsuits and demands. The big boys, ie the wireless
cell and giant companies have already
changed their terms of service to make it impossible for Net Neutrality
to work for the good of the consumer.
I'm sorry Mark but the details are a killer for a small ISP like we are.
As liberal as I am, (JP knows this about me), Pai and O'Reilly
have been at the small ISP's service for the past 8 years. Wheeler has
had his pockets lined with the big boys money.
I have personally met both of these commissioners in the past 3 years at
events of WISPA (Wireless Internet Services Providers
Association). Most of us are small mom and pop type operations like most
of the filePro developers are. WISPA has feet on
the ground in D.C., besides members spending much time in D.C., WISPA
has lobbyists and law firms dedicated to the benefit
of WISPA members. WISPA legal team files many comments to the FCC and
legislators. The members get daily updates
by the lead lawyers on our mailing lists daily. We have also had
several briefings from Pai and O'Reily since Trump was elected.
Pai has been in contact with us this week after being formally
appointed. I have very little respect for most Republicans, but these
these 2 are giant exceptions. I have no use for Wheeler!
Pai's parent are farmers out in the middle of Kansas where only a mom
and pop WISP is willing to serve the area.
NET NEUTRALITY is not what, the name says!
I will fight tooth and nail to repeal the reporting aspects at the least
of Net Neutrality. ie (Remember JP and Esak's flame wars of the 80's?)
:-)
