Blob Field

The blob has been around since version 5.0. There have been some improvements in filePro's handling of the data into and out of the field type. Most, if not all is based on the memo function.

The lonely time I saw anything not related to working with a blob (not a memo) was with the GFPGUI and the access program FpTech developed.. One of the short comings of this program was it was locked into one scanner and needed the GUI to display a picture.

There are some work arounds for this which would be to store the full path & filename to the image or sound wanted. The have the program of your choice called to open the particular file. That is all well and good and assumes that the system in use has that program abd the proper version to accept any parameters passed to it.

My system:
Windows 10 (64 bit)
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit)

File Pro 5.8 64 bit

Now my questions:

1. Is there a way to scan an image into a filePro blob directly using either 0ne of my 2 twain scanners?

2. Will blob import (filename) import an image file?

3. Will blob import (filename) import an audio file?

If the answer to either 2 or 3 is yes, how does one display or play this file within filePro?

And for Ken, No I have not tried any of these.
