I have 1,500 UPS boxes in each rack, and a 3KW Honda generator
that will deal with all the computer nicely -- if I'm around when
the power goes off so I can fire up the generator and plug them
into it. I would like to have something like a 12KW generator
wired in to automatically come on during power failures, but
haven't been willing to spend the 12-15K that requires.

We have had power failures here lasting more than a week. So far
the weather has never been bad enough for an extended period of
time that I haven't been able to keep enough gas around for the
generator. BTW, I have a commercial fueling account allowing me
to use APP, CFN and, Pacific Pride CardLock stations so I can get
gas 24/7 without having to go to Costco or other regular stations.
