I used to race at Daytona several times a year, the worst being
in August.  It gets really hot in a race car in a driving suit
with nomex underwear.  The drive down 95 in a truck without air
conditioning wasn't fun either.

It was better when we ran as preliminary races at the Daytona 500
in February although 1979 was a bitch because of huge snow and
ice storms which made getting back to Maryland "interesting" as
folks in Georgia and South Carolina don't have a clue how to
drive in snow and ice.
