@td gives /OV

I know what the code is doing I wrote the program, if it returns a negative number I adjust it from there. I do that routine all time on a different server with no errors. The question is why does @td return /OV

Your code is trying to subtract "6" from the current month (which is 4 April).
@td returns MM/DD/YY

In a processing table I assign a numeric value to a variable based on the month of a date (@td). I'm getting /O in that variable
When debugging the processing table I get /OV when I press 'f' for field and enter @td.
Processing lines:
pe(2,.0)=mid(@td,"1","2")-"6"
The Unix system date is correct.
@dt gives me the correct date.
Any ideas why I am getting the error on @td
