Limits on fp 5.0

Centos 6.8(final)  fp 5.0.13D4
I have been expanding a field from 5,.0 to 8,.0
I have already expanding the very large files but now receive this error when attempting to expand a file called pay835:
Checking Free Disk Space Before Restructuring
Not enough disk space to restructure file.
Press Enter to Continue
 
The system has 2TB with 66% free, so I know there is plenty of disk space.
I'm guessing it is some other limitation; either linux or fp?
 
The 5 largest files in that directory are:

The map is:
map:235:0:41
account: 8:rj:
invoice: 5:rj:
so increasing the invoice# from 5 to 8 is a small percentage of increase.
Any thoughts?
