hi experts
thank you for all the help from some very professional and helpful people.
listed below is what i did to finally get it to work.
the release i am using is CentOS release 6.7 (Final)
thanks
old tony

=====================
steps i had to make to get new filepro (5.08) to work.

i made a new install SME server 9.1 ( was sme server 8.2)

      (SME server is dowloaded from contribs.org)
now below are additional steps i need to do to get NEW filepro to work

# yum install libxml2.i686
#  yum install libstdc++.so.6
# yum install compat-libtermcap.i686
# yum install unixODBC unixODBC-devel libtool-ltdl libtool-ltdl-devel

found that theb below fixed my libodbc.so.2 issue thanks to john sica at
chrismanncomputer.com
thanks
old tony

below fixed libodbc.so.2 issue:
yum install unixODBC unixODBC-devel libtool-ltdl libtool-ltdl-devel

I then made the symbolic link
ln -s /usr/lib/libodbc.so.2 /usr/lib/libodbc.so.1

==============================

Thanks to ernie i have now installed the 64 bit version
there is only 1 file missing

the libodbc.so.2 ==> not found
    and find does not find this file anywhere.;s

any suggestions on where to get this file

thanks
old tony

hi experts
even though this question is about filepro this question is OT because i
don't know how to fix my linux to make filepro happy.
the filepro 5.8 install tells me i must abort the install if i see any
==> not found.
i see three not founds
      libxml2.so.2  ==>> not found      libfpodbc.so  ==> not found  and
libz.so.1  ==>> not found
but i find them in my /usr/lib64 directory.

How do i tell filepro to look there?

thanks
old tony
