Subscription questions...

Since the fP Tech website doesn't address the issue (at least not clearly
and transparently Ä I looked all over for it), I'll ask here.

What's the deal with the subscriptions they moved to? Say you buy in at
5.8 right now. Say there's a bug in 5.8, and they release 5.8.1 in a few
months. Are you stuck with that buggy 5.8 without a subscription, or are
you good through all of 5.8. What I've seen so far in the past leads me to
believe you're screwed without a subscription.

If you do not get bugfix releases without a subscription, forget it. I
considered getting a 5.8 single-user dev, but I'm not going to pay for
ransomware. Even Native Instruments aren't -that- asinine, and they can be
downright greedy, arrogant bastards.

I mean, for my intended use case, I -could- (GRUDGINGLY) suffer the license
manager. I'd never recommend it to a client, but I could tolerate it in
my intended use case. But if the subscription nonsense is how and what I
think it is, all bets are off, not even a potential sale.

I find it a horrible business practise that the subscription plan doesn't
appear to be blatantly and transparently listed on the website. I found
the support contract stuff, but not the subscriptions.

Also, fax to order with an actual download/print/fill-out-and-sign form?
Seriously? Are you firmly entrenched in the 90s? That's just pathetic.

I'd still like to know about the subscription vs release landscape, so
I can see what I'd be dealing with (or not!).
