     I'd like to add that I appreciate it when somebody does respond to
their own post with a "final solution" post.  Even if we don't see the
intermediate private posts, it would be nice to know what they did to
resolve the issue.   

     If you want to protect the anonymity of the private posters, you could
say:  "suggestion X was yada, suggestion Y  was yada-yada, but I chose
suggestion Z which was yada-yada-yada...
