Subject: Screen printing with PDF

I have a client whose has almost all of his users defaulted to using the FPML format printer copies come to the screen first in PDF format (so type is FPML & destination is PDF:[open]).  Everything works great except when doing a hardcopy of a data entry screen.  It only comes to the screen after the user exits and goes back to the menu.  Is there any way around this, so it comes up immediately when the user presses "H"?  I have set FFHCFF=ON, and that works fine for anybody that goes directly to the printer, but doesn't change anything with the ones using PDF.

I creates a printer PDF Type fpml Destination: PDF[open] c:\fptemp\screen.pdf

I then hard copied a screen and the pdf opened immediately.

Keep in mind that If you use this method, the specific printers will have to be hard coded to printed outputs or you will need to add -pq option to all menu options to print. This will allow the user to select the printer to use.

Now if you want to get a bit fancier, and using Windows, with this, you could use the environmental variables to direct to output to the users my documents folder. I am doing this for one of my clients where letters are sent from a specific member's record to the users desktop 3 form letters and 1 statement.
