Del,
I have client's running on Server 2008 and earlier. I would venture to say that there should be no problem running filePro off of a server running Windows Server 2012.
As far as which version of Windows Server would be best for, I can't answer that questions.
I am going to assume that both the executable and data will be stored on the server and the execution will be on the local computers. If remote desktop is going to be used, and depending on the number of users, he may be better off loading filePro on a "Database" server and have the remote access on a separate server networked to the database server. This arrangement offers much betting security options.
I am currently running filepro on the enterprise evaluation version of Windows 10. I have installed this on my ThinkPad T500 with 3GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. FilePro runs nicely but I can't say that for MSOffice 2013. It crashed the first time I tried to install it. PowerPoint crashes the computer as it take quite a while for the OS to repair itself.
