OT: under centos 6.6 filepro does not work for users that are not root

hi experts
installed centos 6.6 and filepro.
  As root filepro all works great.
as a non root user filepro will not run.
as a non root user Main menu works, but when i try to open any file i 
get the following error:
"There are no filepro files in /appl/union/filepro/
i have run /appl/fp/scripts/setperms many times and even run it in my 
.bash_profile before
exec p "menuname "; exit is run.
the non root user is part of filepro group.
any suggestions as to how to fix this will be much appreciated.
