Wow, I sure hope this is not directed at me; I jumped in as an attempt to
ease one off and keep him from leaving the list over a "flare" or "two"
advising that it is not new and it has been happening for years (this is no
lie and it is not unique to this list).

I never said Mark is mean, I did say he has poor side manner, heck, even
Mark can agree to this - Agree, typical of those that know what they are
talking about - Which I mention at the end that he does offer valuable
advise, just in poor taste (going back to bedside manner). I've known
(virtually) Mark for years, have had a few flares with him (not for a long
while) and to this day, AFAIK, we have a good professional/virtual relation.

I quit asking questions on the list - heck, I don't even use filePro as I
once did.

Mark, if I were offensive or came across as aggressive or non-appreciative
of your efforts on behalf of the list, its members and the filePro community
as a whole, please accept my sincere apologies; this was not the intent.

Regards,

These responses are pretty amusing.

Let's see,

RE quoting: No one cared about Tom's quoting until Tom tried to falsely
accuse someone else of lying, as a result of his own quoting error. He
punched someone in the nose and then says how mean the other guy is for
yelling about being punched in the nose? If he wants to leave because of
that, what else is there to say but good riddance?

RE Mark is mean: I often see people on techie lists whine about how mean the
guys who actually know what the hell they are doing are. I often see people
on techie lists who don't really know what they are doing giving out bad
advice and getting corrected and crying "I was just trying to help! EXCUUUSE
ME!" These are not even remotely valid charges. It's not very "nice" or
"helpful" to the poor guy getting bad advice tries to actually do what you
said. I'm not remotely sorry if you don't like it that you are wrong, or
don't understand or believe that you are wrong.
I'm not remotely sorry that someone else is correct. I'm not remotely sorry
that you handle both of those two facts poorly. That's all on you.
When Mark or anyone spends a fucking HOUR actually exhaustively testing
every tiny detail of some answer before hitting "send", for free, just so
you can cut & paste and it will be safe and actually work, that is way the
hell nicer than anything you ever did for him or the list.
