determining kind of output generated by "out." file

Hopefully someone can provide some insight into  "how to" determine what
"kind" of output is to be generated from an output file (out.) file quickly.

In an "out." file what am I looking for to determine if it generates a
- mailing label
- form
- report
- process only
- 'other'

What should I be looking for in the "out." file to distinguish these kinds
of output.?
