Filepro and windows printers - tip

Many of us have had to set up printers on windows systems.
The later versions of Filepro (5.6 and up) have an F6 option in printer maintenance which lists the available printers making it easy to get the Windows name for the printer.
Since Windows, for the most part, supplies the name for the printer, and this can be rather long, typing in the correct name can be a pain.
Suggestion:
1. Open filepro Printer Maintenance
2. Open Device & Printers
a. Click on the printer icon wanted
b. Click on "See what's printing"
c. Click on Printer(menu bar) and then properties
d. The Windows Printer name will be highlighted - if not highlight the name
e. right click and copy the name
f. In the filepro window, place the cursor in the Destination file (Remember to prefix with WIN:) and right click and paste the name in.
Doing this insures that the Windows Printer name is exactly what Windows is expecting.
The is especially true as more and more printers are either networked(Wireless) or USB. Serial and parallel printers are dinosaurs.
