Well, filePro loads the file's local edits and then the global.  But you are 
correct that any name in the file's edits will override a duplicate name in 
the global.  (And, should you accidentally create two edits with the same 
name in the same table, first one "wins".)

Use deddef to test the CHEQUE edit.  First, does it work correctly if 
testing the global table?  If so, what about when testing the file in 
question?  And, finally, what about testing from some other file?
