Easiest way to print to pdf

I'm running server 2003 R2, soon to be going to server 2008 and filepro version 5.0.09DN9. My invoices are simple text documents and I was thinking it could be as easy as just installing a pdf printer and pointing the output to that printer but it doesn't seem to work quite like that, nothing happens. 

Since I see some discussion about pdf files going on I figured it might be a good time to ask this question.
