No, but you *can* call dcaber to do a syntax check on a file with a 
switch these days, and tell it to exit quietly if everything is ok, which
makes it a little easier.

As for layout: you don't *want* layout.  You want as much code visible
on the screen as possible.  If that makes it look ugly in dcabe proper,
well, not to put too fine a point on it: tough shit.  :-)
