     Rather than the limited options on an OD dump, there are several great text editors that make it easy to edit/view in hex/octal format.  I've used UltraEdit for several years:

     Retail price has climbed up to  $79.00 over the years, but you can download their demo (time-limited) to try.  Or, there are several other free (or nearly free) hex editors available.  I use XVI32 loaded on some of my customer's computers:
