Interesting.  The system on which I'm observing the behaviour may have mutt
built against slang, but I can't confirm or deny because it's set to 0111.
The CentOS system I checked was not linked against curses.

I know we had slang on here for slrn, so there's a 50/50 chance the Solaris
build of mutt is linked against slang.  No way to know without asking the
General Manager, who would have built it.
