I already knew that the code says it only takes a field/variable, and not an 
expression.  (And, just in case, I double-checked.)

FYI, my dcabe.hlp file says "Returns the number of characters in exp, 
including leading or trailing spaces."  So, *technically* it only *implies* 
that it takes expressions.  :-)

However, I originally checked the online manual, which shows:

Syntax:

     Then:  LEN(f)

Where "f" is a dummy or real field.
