Windows server 2008
Mixed workstations with Windows XP & 7
Prior to going live with fp 5.7 I installed it on their server and created a separate start-up file to allow me to test it using my test data. (Remote Access)
Everything worked fine and it was decided to move their production system to 5.7. One evening I modified all of the batch files to point to filePro 5.7 (fp57).
The next morning they had printing problems, reports that should be printing in landscape were in portrait mode. Some computers printed correctly and some didn't.
I had my client print on report to file from a clerk's machine and then the same report from his. His had the print codes, hers didn't.
That's when I realized there was a permission issue with the folder(directory) fp57. Once this was corrected everything worked correctly.
So, those of us on Windows systems, *nix users are not the only ones who can have problems with permissions with filePro.
One other thing caused a problem. As I indicated above, I modified all of the startup batch files to point at fp57. What I did not know was that some of the computers were using a locally installed batch file. Their computers use an image file when being set up and they have this batch file. I need to get them to change this so that all use the network batch file.
