removing special characters through edit type?

Clearly, CREATING edit types is not something I am very strong at. I was thinking that you had to define what you wanted to be there (as well as what you did not want there). Thank you both for your assistance. Needless to say, I am glad i sent my email prior to investing any MORE HOURS into this myself. thanks again.
