lookup to a qualified file with a variable

I am trying to lookup to a qualified file with a variable, but I have not been able to make it work. Assuming that I end up with 40 or 50 qualifiers, this method seems to be the only reasonable way to program this out.

I cannot use the @qu, because the master code will always be run without a qualifier for all companies, but depending upon who is logged in, it will need to both lookup and save to the appropriate qualified files.

lets say i have the following qualified files:

employees at google
employees at yahoo
employees at fptech

and just to keep the code super simple, i have the following code:

::declare local company:
::company=“google”:
::lookup employees@(company) k=(aa) i=a -nx:

no matter what i try, it seems to ignore the “(company)” and treat the lookup as if it is just "employees@“ .

Please tell me that i am overlooking something. Thank you very much,
