@once problem

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, there's no way to tell between a deleted record
and an empty one in dclerk -- that is, it could be deleted, and if you said 
"Record 1", you wouldn't know. 

Did you try Update/Esc Esc on Rec 1 and then rerun?
