on Screens Fields end with question mark. would like a nice block at end of ach field

we are using ubuntu for "ssh-ing" into another linux system.
the terminal program is called by pressing <Ctl>< Alt>< T>. The terminal 
program is called "Gnome Terminal 3.6.1" and is built into ubuntu. Works 
well except for the ? at the end of each field.
