JP, maybe someone else has come up with a different scenario, but for
recent SCO, the default Terminal app that comes with OS/X should look a
bit better than using the iTerm2 app (which doesn't visually connect
vertical line as fluidly unless I missed something). But if I was
setting up a default Terminal app session for an iMac out of the box for
use with filepro to connect to SCO, I would do the following:
For the new Terminal app session being set up on the mac client:
1. Set the character encoding to Latin-US (DOS). (Advanced tab.)
2. Set the terminal type as xterm. (Advanced tab.)
3. Set the Title and Startup Run command on the Window and Shell tabs.
For the mac client in general:
For the client OS, Expose app (Snow Leopard) or System
Prefs-Keyboard-Keyboard Shortcuts-Mission Control (Lion/ML?):
1. Change at least Mission Control & Application windows to activate
with Ctrl-F9, Ctrl-F10 (instead of just F9, F10), so as not to interfere
with filepro's needs for these function keys. (You could change F9-F12
for consistency I suppose.)
For the SCO server:
1. Just make sure that when it connects, it is setting TERM to xterm;
if not, then the login profile would need to do that on the server.
2. I'm assuming that the filepro formats on the server are not color,
so in filepro's termcap file, under the entry for linux (referenced by
the entry for xterm), remove the "PV:" at the end of the line starting
with ":kh".
This should wind up with a good monochrome terminal session where the
operator can easily use ctrl-+/- to resize the window up or down with
very smooth fonts. In the Terminal app, you can also set the
background/foreground colors for the monochrome session. I do like text
on a light background, but the mac monitors are so bright, I had to gray
the background down some for regular use.
