Mark,

I would agree but I had been waiting for this maintenance release and knew what it was referring to. That's because I had 5.7.3.03 and needed one of the bug fixes in 5.7.3.04.

I realize that it can be confusing but FPtech did advise that they would be running 2 versions of the 5.7 release. The basic 5.7 release is as all previous filePro releases were and that they would not be adding functions or features to that release, just the maintenance updates.

The other version, with a paid one year subscription, get the maintenance updates plus any new functionality. This is a cash flow issue for them. If one needs the new functionality, you will pay more than the basic price.

The issue is that they should make it easier to get the information. Click on 5.7 release and get both the basic and subscription information in one place.

HP's early web-site used to drive me crazy in trying to locate information about product. It took them a few years until they finally got a web-site that was relatively easy to navigate and locate information. Now only if FPtech would make it easier to get this information.

My other pet peeve has been the lack of examples on how to use commands and/or functions. With the 5.7 release, it appears they are expanding help to include more examples of how a function/command works with various examples. Although I have been programming with filePro since Xenix version of Profile 16, I still refer back to the old manuals as well as the filePro Developer's Manual as a reference on how do or use these. The one place where all of these manuals fail in explaining how to use the popup update function properly. There are probably other functions which I have not used that can use more detailed examples of how to use them properly not just the command structure.
