The lp: ERROR: No (or empty) input files. message

Scott,
I do the following to avoid this.
I start the job with the output going to a file or null device - depends
on os which works best.
I select the printer during SCAN Processing. This is before the output
stream is opened.
This seems to work best for both Unix and Windows Platforms. Changing or
redirecting in INPUT processing is still a bit weird.
