1) They made a big deal about it "never" going to *nix from the start, that
it would always be Windows-only, so who would blame anyone for assuming
that they kept their word?
2) If it was done past 5.0.14, I don't end up paying much attention to
the new feature list because 99.999% of my current clients use 5.0.14 and
lower. Nobody wants to migrate, largely due to the license manager, and
now the subscriptions and the way version releases are handled. So newer
versions are essentially getting ignored unless something like this brings
something into sharp focus.
"Static linking." ...Oh wait, something in glibc back around 5.0.12
screwed with your ability to do that properly. Perhaps it's time to look
into it again?
