SAS or SATA?

I'm working on putting together a new box for my Filepro Linux-Samba
server. The old one is an HP Proliant with tons of redundancy and SCSI
drives. SAS is more reliable than SATA, but with SATA being so cheap I
figured it payed to go with a larger RAID array of striped, mirrored
(0+1) SATA drives with spares.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
