Report Index was not right.

Hey I have a great one for everyone.

filepro 5.0 running on Windows XP or Windows Server 2007.

A process we run every month did not work. It assigns invoice numbers
to about 125000 items.

It has worked flawlessly for years. This month for some reason some
items had invoice numbers and some did not after it ran.

It selected all the records and counted down. When we ran it from the
Server, it would skip some (Records 1- 118881) pretty exactly the same
every time. All the stuff after had numbers all the stuff before did
not. When we ran it on the XP (networked to the Server) it ran fine.

After trying this and that and trying to figure out what could be wrong,
I decided to add -o5 to the menu line to trap the report index. Guess
what. Every thing in the index had invoice numbers but there were no
records in the index before 118881. So what happened had to be that it
was unable to properly create the index for the report. It wrote over
the index it was creating somewhere along the way.

Solution was to move the PFTMP to another location - same is now used by
both XP and Server 2007 for filepro stuff. This has to be the result of
some kind of security patch or change on the system. We checked the
folders and did not see anything obviously different but it was something.

Nothing so weird and something unexplained happening to filePro when it
worked forever before.

Nancy
