Here we go again,
Login with a dclerk session 1 user
System out to another dclerk 0 user
System out again. 0 user
Only the first call to dclerk counts against the license.
Since we are talking Windows, opening another window and sitting on a menu. 0 user. Run dclerk or dreport
1 user.
Same person now is using 2 license session.
I have a client whose office manager keeps open 5 windows accessing clerk. She is using 5 license sessions. She has to log into the system which executes their main menu.
If you have 12 users with 5 sessions each running clerk. you would need a 60 user license.
Do your users really need to keep open all of these sessions or is this habit because before the license manager one could do this on a windows system while those on *nix could not?
Can your users drop back to a menu when not working or referencing a session? This may take some retraining but would save on allowing for a lower license count.
Yes, it would have been better if the license counted seats rather the sessions but that's the way the license manager works.
You need to consider the value of more indexes as well as the other new functions available with 5.7.
